cause, reason, excuse
这些名词均有“原因”之意。
cause : 指直接导致事情发生的原因，与所发生的事个有因果关系。
例如：These causes led to a bad result.（这些原因导致了不良的后果。）
reason : 强调指从逻辑推理上得出的结论性原因，不是直接说明起因。
例如：I can only guess the reason.（我只能猜测原因。）
excuse : 指为自己辩解，希望得到谅解时所提出的种种理由，是借口性的理由。
例如：Her excuse didn't go down well; no one believed it.（她的借口不能使人信服，没有一个人相信它。）
celebrate, congratulate
这两个动词均有“庆祝，祝贺”之意。
celebrate : 通常指举行盛大隆重的仪式庆祝或纪念有意义的日子或某件事情，多暗示节日般的欢乐场面。
例如：When the war ended, everyone celebrated.（战争结束了，人人欢庆。）
congratulate : 指对他人祝贺为目的，希望他人幸福或走运。
例如：He is to be congratulated for his success.（他将会由于取得的成就而受到祝贺。）
