chair, armchair, bench, stool
这些名词均有“椅子”或“凳子”之意。
chair : 通常指带有靠背的椅子，有时也指有靠背有扶手的椅子。
He pulled up a chair.（他拖过一把椅子。）
小编注：chair作为动词讲，还有主持的意思。
例如：Will you chair the meeting or shall I?（由你还是由我来主持会议?）
armchair : 指有扶手的椅子。
I love curling up in an armchair with a good book.（我爱在扶手椅上蜷作一团看我喜欢的书。）
bench : 指可供两人或更多人坐的长凳或石凳，多置于公园或划艇中。
He saw a girl sitting on a bench against the railings.（他看见一位姑娘坐在靠近围栏的板凳上。）
小编注：在美式英语中, bench也可表示“把场上队员换下”或“因犯规而罚场上队员出场”。
例如：The fullback was benched with injuries.（后卫因受伤被换下场。）
stool : 多指方的或圆的无靠背无扶手一人坐的凳子。
He perched on a tall stool by the bar.（他坐在吧台前的高凳子上。）
