这两个形容词均表示“犯罪的”之意
criminal : 侧重指某种行为是违犯法律的,因而应受到惩罚。
His criminal record weighed heavily against him (with the jury). (陪审团)(认为他的前科关系重大.)
guilty : 主要指某种行为违反道德标准,也可指违犯法律。
The thief sought forgiveness for his guilty acts.(那小偷乞求宽恕他的罪行。)
critical, acute, urgent
这些形容词均有“紧急的”或“严重的”之意。
critical : 指极为危急或缺乏的状况,而这种状况标志一种转折点。
We are at a critical time in history.(我们正处在历史的危急时刻。)
acute : 通常指需要和缺乏的紧急程度。也指病情的严重。
There's an acute shortage of water.(这里严重缺水。)
urgent : 指情况紧急,急需解决问题。
It is most urgent that the patient should get to hospital.(那病人应该马上送医院。)
