In recent years, an increasing number of people are attach importance to reading, and reading materials can be classed into two categories in general: physical books and electronic books. Some merits and drawbacks of these two categories are listed as follows.

In terms of physical books, there is no denying in saying that they can help us calm down and dip ourselves into reading, which is beneficial to deep reading. While as far as environmental protection is concerned, physical books can, to a certain degree, lead to the waste of natural resources. As to electronic books, they contain a great number of contents, including words, pictures, sounds and videos, and are convenient to carry at any time and in any case. In regard to the disadvantages, we cannot neglect the fact that electronic books may result in visual fatigue as well as copyright infringement.
