On May 31th, a group of thirty students from our university visited the Sunshine Hope Elementary School, bringing special Children’s Day gifts for pupils of rural areas. 

This activity was organized by the Student Union with the purpose of helping underprivileged children. A charity sale had been held a week before the visit in order to collect money and donations for the school in the countryside. Upon arrival, volunteers sent out books and school supplies to the pupils as Children’s Day gifts, which received a warm welcome from all the students and staff of Sunshine School. Then, a number of colorful activities were held, including building a reading room in the school, presentations about wonderful college life, exciting sports games, eye-opening science experiments and so on, hoping for creating the best Children’s Day memory for the pupils. 

Volunteers who took part also commented that they benefited a great deal in that they felt more sense of social responsibility and hoped they could involve more in meaningful activities like this.
