1.掉尾句

中心意思出现在句尾的句子，在修辞上叫做掉尾句(The Periodic Sentence)或圆周句。这种句子的结构一般比中心意思出现在句首、修饰语出现在句尾的结构效果更好。修饰语可以是词组(如介词词组或分词词组)，状语从句(如时间、地点、条件、原因及让步状语从句)，也可以是其他结构(如不完全结构等)。例如:

(4)并列复合句(The Compound-complex Sentence)。含有两个(或更多)的单句和一个

(或更多从句)的句子称为并列复合句。它是结构复杂的句子.由多个分句和从句组成，既有并列关系，又有从属关系。此类句子适用于表达较为复杂的思想。例如:

1)Many students drive their cars to the college。but others prefer to take public

transportation because free parking near the campus is unavailable.
